Where Is All The Thought Leadership on the New FTC Regulations? 0
Yes, its about the FTC regulations again — but Ok, no seriously. When a story finally hits the New York Times, gray lady of the mainstream press, you would think there would be an unholy righteous white-hot fury of a blogging storm amongst marketing bloggers, particularly since this will affect testimonials (see Frank Kern) and have a huge impact on affiliate marketing.
Or so you would think.
Amongst the thought leaders, wizened ones, “Guru’s” if you will … at the least.
Or, perhaps blogs maintained by industry titans.
And yet, in prepping for my last article, I couldn’t help but notice that a day out of the announcement many prominent blogs have
a) nothing at all on the regulations
b) having something … but really small.
Its still early — one wonders if its merely that, or perhaps that folk are considering their next words carefully, or that some have otherwise been cowed into submission. Sure, there’s twitter traffic on the topic, but is that all what we’re left with?
Where is the dissent?
The reasoned opinion?
The partially manufactured outrage?
The endless lists that will be inevitable fodder for the usual bookmarking and social news sites?
Or, perhaps, merely some helpful advice for their scared faithful?
Are we to let the social media nerdlings of the socialsphere (for the record, Andy Sernowitz is my favourite social media nerdling — read that article I just linked to … its probably the best one so far on the whole thing) take the lead on this one? What about people making real money in the real virtual world? Come on, folks!
